Welcome

Artists Lizzy Hobbs and Emily Tracy worked with J3 in Janurary and February 2011. We were awarded funding from First Light to make an experimental film based on archive footage from the BFI. We made a record of our adventures here. The blog is still live and we will post about the finished film's progress, and opportunities for young animators

The Nature of Laburnum Boat Club

Lizzy made an animation last year with Laburnum Boat Club.  It's a sort of sketch of what happens on a Saturday there, and it features acts of great daring!

You can click here to see it.

Saturday animation club

There's a new Saturday animation club at the Film and Video Workshop for 10 - 16 year olds. I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything for a younger audience.  Meanwhile Emily and I are concocting more plans for projects nearby.  Watch this space!

Emily and Lizzy have been working on a new project in Wood Street, Walthamstow.  We have been making a site specific projection about the history of filmmaking in the silent film era, we have been working with Woodside Primary School and local residents.  Please come along if you can!

BBC London News 5th March

First Light Award Ceremony part two!

After our TV interviews we enjoyed the award ceremony. We didn't win our category, but our film got a great response from the audience.
Then we had drinks and mini burger canapes to round off a fantastic day. Our interviews were shown on BBC London News at 6pm!

First Light Award Ceremony

Here are some pictures of our day at The BFI on The SouthBank. We arrived early so that BBC London News could interview everyone about their experience of making Germinator.

Look!

Germinator has won a Commended prize at Animated Exeter!  It's really exciting to think of the film being seen beyond the pottery shed.

Next Monday, eight of the old J3 filmmakers will go to the BFI with Emily and Pat, hopefully there will be some pictures from the red carpet?
