The Germs are Spreading!

Germinator has been selected to be shown at The Co-operative Film Festival 2011 at the National Media Museum in Bradford.  The Film will be shown at the 2 day festival on the 7th October with about 100 other films by young people under 19 years old.  It's the film's first big success, we hope there will be many more.

The Laburnum Boat Club

Lizzy has made a little film with the Laburnum Boat Club which will have it's premiere on The Floating Cinema on tuesday at the Shoreditch Festival.  Click here for the festival link, it would be great if you could come along.

The screening

By the end of Wednesday we had completed the transformation.  Thank you to Jeff for managing to get the blog working locally and thank you to May for lending us her popcorn maker.  Sometimes it was a rival attraction!  We were also grateful to Hugh and Joanne for helping to get the film show extended to Friday. The film was projected on a loop from midday on thursday until 8pm, and again for the whole of Friday so that each class could come and see it.  That was a lot of visitors!  I bet Emily has got some good photos to add, but here are a few for now...

The transformation

One of Emily's specialities is transforming spaces to make them special.  Even though the pottery shed is quite special already, it needed a lot of work on Wednesday to make it into the Gayhurst Cinema.  Here is Marcus trying to drill through the concrete ceiling to put up the screen.

Our germ related merchandise

We made rubber stamps from some of the lovely germ drawings and used them to print t shirt's that the children could wear at the screening.  We also printed some hankerchiefs to sell for £2.  We sold every single one.  All the proceeds will go towards a zoetrope for the school.  We hope to keep the animation bug alive!

Animation in the pottery shed

Here we are on our last session today animating at top speed.  We had a spare camera and computer so we captured some timelapse footage with it, we took one frame every five seconds.  You can see I didn't have time to drink my tea.
